DROP 20
Drop 21
With Tino Kuban, Louis Mattieu and Madame Flöck Wines
The Unusual Suspects brings together three winemakers who each do Pinot in a completely different way — and that is exactly what makes this lineup so exciting. Tino Kuban opens the drop with La Leux 2024, a wine that carries everything we love about his style: energy, edge, movement, and that slightly wild precision that never feels forced. Tino has become one of those names we keep coming back to because his wines always feel alive.
Then comes Louis Mathieu, one of the most exciting new names in Burgundy right now. He is still very new on the scene, which makes this Fixin feel even more like a real find, but there is already serious intent behind the project. Louis Mathieu represents that new generation of Burgundy growers who are not chasing weight or obvious power, but finesse, brightness, and clarity. His approach is gentle and precise, and that matters especially in an appellation like Fixin, which is often expected to show more structure and darkness.
And finally, Madame Flöck Wines delivers the most rebellious note of the drop. Based in the Terrassenmosel, the project focuses on tiny-production wines from steep, old vineyards, made with a deeply natural, low-intervention mindset. Robert Kane is not trying to smooth out every corner — quite the opposite. Their wines are grown sustainably, fermented naturally, and made with as little makeup as possible, which gives them that raw, vivid, slightly untamed character we love in the right natural wines.

2024 La Leux – Maison Glandien
2024 La Leux comes from a Pinot Noir vineyard planted in 1965 in Saint-Jean-de-Vaux, near Mercurey. With its west-facing exposition and clay-limestone soils, the site gives the wine both depth and lift, combining ripeness with freshness in a very natural way. Only a tiny amount was produced — just 2 pièces and 2 feuillettes — which already tells you how small and focused this cuvée is. The élevage includes 50% new oak, but in true Tino style, the wine is never about wood first. Instead, La Leux feels energetic, structured, and full of character, with that vivid tension and quiet intensity that make his Pinots so distinctive. This is a wine with real presence, but also with movement — serious, precise, and very much alive.

22 Pinot Noir – Madame Flöck Wines
Pinot Noir 2022 by Madame Flöck Wines is very clearly a natural wine, and it wears that identity without compromise. This is not a polished, classic, or comfort-zone kind of Pinot Noir, but a wine with corners, raw energy, and a slightly untamed character that makes it stand out immediately. At the same time, behind that wild edge, there is also a beautiful fruit profile, a certain sweetness of fruit, and a lovely interplay between sweetness and acidity that gives the wine charm and drinkability. It feels alive, edgy, and full of attitude, exactly the kind of bottle that speaks to drinkers who enjoy natural wines with personality rather than perfection.
This Pinot also comes with a touch of volatile acidity, so make sure to let it breathe a little before drinking.
