OUTSIDE 2021
Drink wines not Lables by Alessandro Salvano
Outside 2021 by Alessandro Salvano is more than just a wine — it’s a statement about what Nebbiolo can be when someone dares to think differently. The vineyard lies only a few meters outside the official Barolo zone, literally on the edge of one of the world’s most prestigious appellations. Same soils, same exposures, but a winemaker who doesn’t feel bound by the rules.
Under his DWNL philosophy (Drink Wines Not Labels), Alessandro works with whole-cluster fermentation, indigenous yeasts, and a minimal-intervention approach that draws more inspiration from Burgundy than from the traditions of Piemonte. It’s about transparency and purity, letting Nebbiolo speak without makeup or compromise.

Les Roches & Le freddie 2023
Maison Glandien
Tino Kuban is one of Burgundy’s most exciting young voices, and with Maison Glandien he is redefining what négociant winemaking can be.
Les Roches Rouge 2023 comes from 70-year-old vines in the Clos de la Roche, between Santenay and Mercurey. Farmed organically on classic clay-limestone soils, it’s Pinot Noir with tension, structure, and a mineral precision that lingers long after each sip.
Le Freddie Rouge 2023 is also sourced from 70-year-old vines, this time on the marl-rich slopes of Mercurey. The result is a wine of darker fruit, depth, and elegance, lifted by vibrant energy and the unmistakable finesse of Tino’s hand.
ABOUT OUR WINE BOX
Outside
Vintage 2021 & 2023
Tino Kuban, Meursault
Tino Kuban is a shining example of the new wave in Burgundian natural winemaking, combining tradition with fearless innovation. His approach is rooted in biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, crafting wines that are raw, authentic, and a true reflection of their terroir. Unlike many, Kuban works exclusively with fruit from his own meticulously tended vineyards in Meursault and the Côte Chalonnaise, ensuring absolute control and integrity at every stage.
MAISON GLANDIEN – Les Roches Rouge 2023
Cote Challonaise (Pinot Noir)
The Les Roches comes from the prestigious Clos de la Roche vineyard, planted with 70-year-old vines. The farming is fully organic, and the vineyard is located between Santenay and Mercurey. The soils are a classic mix of clay and limestone, giving the wine its beautiful tension, structure, and minerality.
MAISON GLANDIEN – Le Freddie Rouge 2023
Mercury (Pinot Noir)
Freddie is also sourced from 70-year-old vineyards, located on a south-facing slope in Mercurey. Here, the soils are rich in marl, giving the wine depth, elegance, and a vibrant energy.

Alessandro Salvano, Montelupo Albese
Alessandro Salvano is part of a bold new generation reshaping Piemonte’s wine narrative. Based just outside the Barolo zone, he doesn’t follow the rules—he rewrites them. With his project Drink Wines Not Labels (DWNL), Salvano strips away all the noise and focuses on what truly matters: raw, expressive, soulful wine. No dogma, no distractions—just grapes, soil, and instinct. His cellar work is ultra-low intervention, relying on wild ferments, no fining or filtering, and an honest, hands-off approach that lets the wine tell its own story.
OUTSIDE 2021
Outside 2021 by Alessandro Salvano is Nebbiolo grown just about fifty meters outside the Barolo boundary — close enough to echo Barolo’s terroir, yet free from its constraints. Crafted under the DWNL philosophy with whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and long aging in large oak, it’s bottled unfined and unfiltered with only minimal sulphur.
In the glass, it shows lifted aromas of rose petal, dried cherry, and blood orange. The palate is precise yet layered, with fine tannins, saline minerality, and a long, vibrant finish that combines depth with freshness. Only a small number of bottles were produced, making it as rare as it is striking.
Alessandro is one of the new talents you need to have on your radar. And for me personally, Outside 2021 is without exaggeration one of the greatest Nebbiolos I’ve ever tasted.
